Mobile Usage at SRS
Mobile phones are a distraction to teaching and learning throughout the school day therefore to ensure that staff and students are focused on ‘education’ SRS is a ‘mobile free zone’. Students must ensure mobiles are switched off and that they remain in their bags whilst on school premises (this starts at the gate upon arrival in the morning and duration of the school day) Please note, if a student breaches the school policy:- The mobile will be confiscated and given to the Pastoral Leaders
- The mobile will be returned to parents after signing an undertaking that their child will not use their mobile during the school day.
- In the event of a 2nd incident the mobile will be confiscated until the end of term

Primary School
To celebrate the start of the year, we invite our primary parents to drop off their child/children to the class upon arrival to school in the mornings. Maids and drivers will not be permitted to enter the school and should drop off children at the gate with our administration and support staff.
It is the primary teacher’s responsibility to ensure the safety of all children in her classroom, therefore we would kindly request that discussion with the teacher when dropping-off your child is kept to a minimum.
Maids & Drivers
To ensure a safe environment at the beginning and end of the school day, please assign one maid only to drop-off and pick-up your child for the whole academic year. Male drivers will not be allowed to drop-off and pick-up students within the school.
Please ensure maids are dressed appropriately in keeping with the school environment.
Main Building, Reception Gate
To ensure the safety of our students the main gate parking is for parents visiting registration and for the drop-off and pick-up of our SEN students only.
To ease traffic congestion in the school area, please follow the route maps when dropping-off/picking-up students:
Bus Service
Bus will be available for Year 1 to 12/13, Grade 9 to 12 from Monday 28/8/9/2023, FS2 from Wednesday 30/8/2023 and FS1 from Friday 1/9/2023 if you have confirmed your registration for this service. Please be prepared for a phone call from the Bus Assistant giving you your child’s pick-up time for first day back at school Monday 28/8/2023.
Arrival to School
To ensure your child does not miss valuable learning, please ensure they arrive on time for the first lesson every day. Punctuality will be enforced from the start of the academic year and any students arriving after 7:45am will be marked as ‘late arrival’.
Important note:
- US High School, Grade 9-12. late arrival and attendance are 10% of your child’s subject grade on their quarterly, semester 1, semester 2, and end of year reports.
- British Curriculum school, FS1, FS2, Year 1 to 12/13, late arrival and attendance will be highlighted in the termly and end of year reports. Late arrival and increased absences will result in your child missing learning and therefore, not making expected progress which will be reflected in their end of year report.
Please ensure that your child arrives on time and that late arrival, absences and non-attendance are kept to a minimum throughout the school year.
Parents who are unable to drop-off their children in the primary building should encourage secondary siblings to take FS1, FS2 and Year1-4 to their classes. Please note however, that secondary siblings must also be on time for the first lesson and will be refused entry into the primary building from 7:20am onwards.
Early Collection
Early Collection is only permitted for medical reasons and you should inform your child’s Supervisor/YLA before 10:00am on that day when early collection is necessary. Please specify the time of collection in order that your child is prepared.
To ensure students do not lose out on valuable learning, exit slips will not be issued unless a valid reason for collection is provided.
School Uniform
It is a school expectation that students dress appropriately in school uniform at all times. Dress should never distract from school activities or prove a hazard to the student’s safety or the safety of others.
If a student is not appropriately attired or exhibits grooming which constitutes a distraction or disturbance to the school environment, the student will be sent home and not be readmitted until he/she is properly attired or groomed:
- Grooming includes appropriate hair style – short and smart for boys and tied back for girls if they have long hair
- No jewellery allowed (except stud earrings and watch) and wearing of make-up at school is strictly prohibited for girls
Please see our school uniform policy: School policy
Student Cafeterias (Lunch Service) & Student Cards
Cafeteria Service ‘Foody Park’ is available for Years 4 to 12/13 and Grade 9-12 from the start of the academic year. Please note, cash payment will not be accepted in the cafeteria and student cash cards should be used at all times, therefore please ensure your child brings cash to upload onto their card on the first day of school. Apple pay will no longer be possible due to the school being a mobile free zone. If the card has been lost, your child should inform their supervisor who will arrange that the card is replaced.
Students in FS1, FS2 and Year 1 to 3 can register for the ‘trolley service’.
Educational Platforms
The Guided Independent Learning (GIL) programme is through the school’s educational platforms: Century in the UK school (Year 3 to 12) and IXL in the US secondary school in English, mathematics and science. Students are set age and curriculum appropriate guided independent learning tasks each day which are directly linked to the curriculum they are learning in school. Although the tasks are done independently, they are supported by a clear structure built into the platform to help the student make continuous progress.
Arabic and Islamic Studies GIL programme is through the Showbie and Mqroa educational platforms.
