Business & Economics at SRS

Building Thinkers, Innovators, and Decision-Makers

Economicsaaaaaa
At the School of Research Science, Business & Economics come together to help students understand the forces shaping our world. From global trade to daily spending, from entrepreneurship to policy-making, learners develop the tools to think critically, act ethically, and lead confidently in a fast-moving world.

Preparing Students for Life

Students explore real-world case studies, assess financial data, and engage in debates about economic and business decisions. They learn to build arguments, evaluate strategies, and question assumptions. The curriculum blends theory with applied learning, nurturing confident thinkers with a strong sense of purpose, ready for university, career, or enterprise.

Teacher Insight

“In this subject, we help students make sense of the world around them. They learn how decisions, big or small, can shape economies, businesses, and lives. It’s not about memorising theories; it’s about asking the right questions, thinking clearly, and understanding impact.”

These skills prepare students for academic success, entrepreneurship, and informed participation in society.

Key Stage 4

Business and Economics are offered as elective IGCSE subjects from Edexcel, with students attending three hours per week. Lessons explore microeconomics, macroeconomics, and five key areas of business: activity, people, finance, marketing, and operations. Weekly vocabulary quizzes, extended writing tasks, and mock exams support student growth.

Key Stage 5

Students study for the Edexcel International GCE qualifications in both disciplines, with six hours per week allocated. The curriculum covers four units per subject, with IAS in Year 12 and IA2 in Year 13. Progress is tracked through timed essays, practice questions, and final assessments.

I’m Self Made Entrepreneurship Initiative
