EYFS
Children plan, build, and evaluate creations using various materials, developing motor skills through tools like scissors, pens, and brushes.
Key Stage 1
Students engage in four focused DT days annually, learning design cycles through high-quality, well-planned activities.
Key Stage 2
Learners deepen their understanding of tools and materials, reflect on peer feedback, and refine their designs through iterative processes.
Key Stages 3
Students attend two weekly lessons over a 9-week rotation covering resistant materials, CAD/CAM, product design, and graphics.
Key Stages 4
Students take Product Design for three weekly lessons, focusing on design theory, materials, and processes.
Key Stage 5
Students study Design & Technology for six lessons weekly in Year 12 and five in Year 13, progressing through A/AS Levels with practical prototype work.
Competitions & Challenges
4x4 Land Rover Challenge
Students design and test miniature vehicles in a real-world engineering scenario.
DART Awards
Regular internal recognition for excellence in design thinking and innovation.
50 Year Challenge
A school-wide event encouraging students to envision sustainable solutions for the next 50 years.
