Mathematics at SRS

Empowering Problem Solvers, Building Confident Thinkers
At the School of Research Science, Mathematics is more than just a subject, it is a mindset. Through a mastery-based approach, students are guided to think critically, reason logically, and apply their knowledge with confidence. From Early Years to Key Stage 5, our curriculum cultivates fluency, resilience, and curiosity across all levels of mathematical learning.

Preparing Students for Life

Our Mathematics curriculum is designed to empower students with confidence, resilience, and critical thinking. Whether mastering number bonds in primary or solving calculus problems in Year 13, students at SRS are equipped to tackle challenges within and beyond the classroom. Mathematics becomes a language they can speak fluently, whether in technology, finance, design, and everyday life.

Street Math Initiative

Students apply math concepts in real-world settings outside the classroom, connecting theory to life.

Teacher Insight

“Watching a student move from confusion to clarity is the most rewarding part of teaching mathematics. At SRS, we don’t just teach answers, we build thinkers who aren’t afraid of hard questions."

Impact

Students at SRS consistently perform with excellence in IGCSE and A-Level Mathematics. More importantly, they leave school with the ability to think independently, solve problems creatively, and make informed decisions in real-world situations.

The subject also offers students a pathway to specialise in Pure Mathematics, Statistics, or Mechanics based on their future goals.

Mathematics At SRS Is Brought To Life By Engaging Experiences Tailored To Each Stage

Early Years Foundation Stage

Children explore numbers, patterns, and shapes through play, using the White Rose Maths framework to build confidence and curiosity.

Key Stage 1

Students solve real-world problems using concrete materials and participate in daily lessons and weekly mental maths sessions.

Key Stage 2

Follow the structured White Rose Maths progression, covering number, algebra, geometry, probability, and statistics—preparing students for IGCSE success through "Do Now" tasks, assessments, and mock exams.

Key Stages 3 and 4

Follow the structured White Rose Maths progression, covering number, algebra, geometry, probability, and statistics—preparing students for IGCSE success through "Do Now" tasks, assessments, and mock exams.

In Key Stage 5

Students follow the Edexcel A-Level curriculum with six weekly lessons—four in Pure Mathematics and two in either Statistics or Mechanics, based on their career path.
